I landed this role after presenting a student project to the marketing team for my JOUR 3241W class. My team worked on a campaign for Famous Dave’s as part of an assignment, and we had a blast throughout the process. Our client, the BBQ Holdings, Inc. marketing team, voted our campaign as the best. After learning more about Famous Dave’s and coming up with some creative ideas, I was excited to join the team as a marketing intern for the summer when they reached out to our class about the opportunity. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Not only did I gain valuable marketing experience, but I also had the privilege of working alongside and learning from some truly inspiring professionals.
What I did:
- Managed content calendars for three brands (June-August) using Smartsheets
- Executed photo and video shoots at three distinct locations
- Crafted engaging social media posts and copy, ensuring alignment with brand voice
- Assisted in the implementation of content for the Famous Dave's All-Star BBQ Series and Village Inn’s Skillet and Pie campaigns
- Researched and introduced strategies to align content with target audiences for Village Inn and Champps, enhancing brand awareness
- Developed strategies to boost engagement on Instagram and TikTok
- Created detailed shot lists and conducted research for creative inspiration
- Collaborated with office professionals to understand various roles and attended multiple meetings for broader business insights
- Analyzed and transferred key marketing data for three major brands into Excel, tracking and evaluating growth metrics
