Backpack
Backpack is a student run, student led agency. We define ourselves as the next generation of storytellers, creatives, and strategists innovating the future of brand communication. I discovered this role during the beginning of my sophomore year at the University of Minnesota. When I heard applications were opening up for strategists, I knew I wanted to apply and gain more experience in strategy. After my first semester as a strategist, I quickly developed new skills, gaining confidence in my abilities and adjusting to agency life. I was then promoted to Operations Director, working closely with the General Manager. Taking on a leadership role with an even more supportive team, I learned how to foster a fun, educational, and collaborative culture within Backpack. Now, as General Manager during my final semester, I’m excited to continue organizing agency tours, workshops, and guest speakers to help students gain valuable experience for their post-graduation careers.

What I did:
Associate Strategist:
- Managed two external accounts
- Made recommendations and researched for clients
- Communicated with creative and account planning team
Operations Director:
- Managed entire hiring system - this included but was not limited to: creating a hiring timeline, coordinating and leading all interviews, communicating across teams, assigning hiring tasks, editing job descriptions, creating applications, doing student group/course outreach, developing promotional plans with the team leads, evaluating what positions/talents are needed for next semester
- Managed onboarding & off-boarding of staff across all platforms
- Developed plans to ensure a positive agency culture
- Coordinated lab schedule with the General Manager and team directors
- Assisted in team bonding activities during labs
